I thought it would be prudent to advertise my new project here, as I'm trying to get it into the hands and paws of as many people as possible, and still I need more!
TailWinds is a roleplaying system set in an alternate 1938, where planes are more common than cars and the world is inhabited by anthropomorphic animals.
The advent of flight took the world by storm, and after the Great War the Curtiss JN-4 became the 'Model T' of aircraft, providing affordable flight to the common man. Almost overnight, the world became a much smaller place, with any family able to traverse the globe in a manner of days- and in the years following- hours. The system is based less around being realistic and more around being fantastic, with dogfights and gun combat ranging from the interesting to the absurd. Factions like the areal police The Agency do constant battle with the Sky Pirates. The Mafia and the Kopfjäger use their immense talents and fight to survive on opposite ends of the world, while the free-spirited but disorganized Outlaws and the enigmatic Illuminati work to attain their own unknown objectives. And you can join any of them.
Being fun and being easy to play are the cornerstones of our system.
The game uses only one die, the d6- and all Skills and Attributes are represented as a number one through ten. Characters are represented as note cards on a line that moves forward every turn. Every Action has a cooldown, and you move down the Initiative based on the Actions you use. Character creation takes about 20 minutes for 2-3 characters, plus or minus some time for distractions. Flight Control (that's all the game master type stuff) is just as easy, with enemies being boiled down to three stats and individual actions- so you can focus more on the story and making sure that cool things happen (that's very important) and less on bookkeeping.
Choose a faction, choose a species, choose a weapon, and build a plane. Join the finest roleplaying system featuring animals in aeroplanes!
We'll be publishing the game when it's finished (When it's been tested EXTENSIVELY) but we'll be going into beta testing soon. (If all goes well, within 2 months.) We need more playtesters!
If you have an interest in the game and have a group together, or if you have any questions at all, send an email to FoxKit at derpymail dot org. I'll send out PDFs and character sheets, along with a sample adventure.
If you want to find out more about the game and our progress, please visit us on facebook at [link] or read up on the story at our community Wikia at [link] .
We sincerely hope you'll try our game (it's free, after all!) and give us feedback! See you on the ground.
